User Preferences

Preferences let you customize how Qarion works for you, from display options to notification settings.

Accessing Preferences

  1. Click your avatar in the top-right corner
  2. Select Settings
  3. Navigate to the Preferences tab

Available Preferences

Catalog Preferences

Customize your Data Catalog experience:

Preferred Tags

Set your favorite tags per space:

  1. Select a space
  2. Choose the tags that matter most to you
  3. Save

Your preferred tags appear first in the catalog filter sidebar, making them easy to access.

View Preferences

  • Default Sort — How products are ordered when you open the catalog
  • Cards per Row — Grid density preference

Notification Preferences

You can control which events trigger notifications to avoid clutter while staying informed about what matters.

Email Notifications

You can opt-in to email notifications for specific event types. Enable Access Requests to know when you need to approve access, Issue Assignments to be alerted when work is assigned to you, Meeting Invitations to receive calendar invites, and Quality Alerts to get emails when quality checks fail (if you are subscribed).

In-App Notifications

In-app notifications appear in your notification center. These include mentions in comments, status changes on items you are watching, and general team updates.

Display Preferences

Customize the interface:

Theme

  • Light — Light background
  • Dark — Dark background
  • System — Follow your OS preference

Density

  • Comfortable — More spacing, easier to read
  • Compact — Denser display, more content visible

Accessibility

  • Keyboard Hints — Show keyboard shortcuts in UI
  • Animations — Enable or reduce motion

Per-Space Settings

Some preferences apply to specific spaces:

Catalog Tags

Different spaces may have different tag taxonomies. Set preferred tags separately for each:

  1. Select the space
  2. Configure preferred tags
  3. Repeat for other spaces you work in

Notification Scope

Control notifications per space:

  • Receive all notifications from one space
  • Minimal notifications from another
  • Customize based on your involvement

Saving Preferences

Changes save automatically:

  • Immediate feedback on save
  • "Saved" indicator appears
  • Preferences persist across sessions

Default Behaviors

If you haven't set preferences:

  • System follows platform defaults
  • Catalog shows all tags alphabetically
  • Notifications follow standard rules

Resetting Preferences

To return to defaults:

  1. Navigate to preference section
  2. Look for "Reset to Default" option
  3. Confirm the reset

This restores platform default values.

This includes:

  • Change Password — Update your password
  • Sessions — View active login sessions
  • API Keys — Manage programmatic access

API Credentials

What are API Keys?

API keys allow programmatic access to Qarion:

  • Automation scripts
  • External integrations
  • Custom reporting tools

Managing API Keys

  1. Navigate to Settings > API Keys
  2. View existing keys
  3. Create new keys with descriptions
  4. Revoke keys that are no longer needed

Key Security

  • Keys are shown once upon creation
  • Store securely (not in code repositories)
  • Rotate periodically for security
  • Revoke if compromised

Optimize for Your Workflow

Set preferences that match how you work:

  • Frequent catalog users: Configure preferred tags
  • Mobile users: Consider compact density
  • Accessibility needs: Enable keyboard hints

Review Periodically

As your work changes:

  • Update preferred tags for new focus areas
  • Adjust notifications as involvement changes
  • Revisit display preferences with new features

Sync Across Devices

Preferences are tied to your account:

  • Same experience on any device
  • Changes apply everywhere you log in
  • No need to reconfigure
